An adjunct instructor of mathematics at McHenry County College since 2014, Hilary Agnello previously served as an instructional coach with Round Lake Middle School in Round Lake Heights, Illinois. In this role, she led a group of 16 math teachers and helped develop individual educational plans for students. In 2016, Hilary Agnello was nominated for a Those Who Excel award.
Sponsored annually by the Illinois State Board of Education, the Those Who Excel award program recognizes individuals who have made valuable contributions to elementary and secondary schools statewide. Spanning seven categories such as school administrator/principal, early career educator, student support personnel, and school board member, the awards honor educators and support staff in public and nonpublic school settings. Community members and school district leaders make nominations, while winners are selected by a committee representing various educational organizations. Individuals who receive the award in the classroom teacher category become finalists for the Illinois Teacher of the Year award.
